spicy bean dip

From where I'm standing, this dip has it all - it's fasty and easy (ready in just five minutes thanks to the food processor), healthy (low fat with plenty of filling protein), and delicious (garlic! spice!) Serve with veggies, pita, crackers, whatever you've got.

Makes 2 cups

1 can garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained
1 can black beans, drained
1 clove garlic
1/2 medium yellow onion, peeled and halved
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 tbsp lime or lemon juice
chili powder or hot sauce to taste


Combine ingredients (except oil) in a food processor and puree until smooth. Stream in olive oil while processor is running. Adjust salt and spice seasoning to taste. Serve at room temperature.
